Registration is on a 1st come, 1st served basis and numbers are limited to make sure there is adequate playing time for all players.
1st/2nd grade - 16 spots (may add 2nd team if there is enough interest)
3rd/4th grade - 32 spots
5th/6th and 7th/8th grade – 50 spots each
There are optional preseason workouts for 5th-8th grade players beginning in January. Players must be registered to take part in the preseason training program.
There is an early bird discount $25 for Pee Wee, $50 for 5th-8th grade for registrations received by Dec. 31, 2019. Orders for shooter shirts and uniform shorts are placed at the beginning of January. If you register after Dec. 31, we can not guarantee delivery of shorts and shirt before games begin.
Teams are based on age and skill level. Mandatory practices/try-outs will begin the first week of February 2020. Teams practice 2-3 times a week, depending on age group. Games are typically on Saturday.
The reason for separating players based on ability is to put them in an environment where they can compete, contribute, be successful, have fun and improve and develop as players and people.
We typically have two 3rd/4th grade teams (Green and Gray) of roughly equal skill level and one 1st/2nd grade team.
All players must have a lacrosse stick, NOCSAE approved helmet, gloves, arm pads, shoulder pads, cleats, protective cup and mouthpiece. Poway Youth Lacrosse has some equipment that players may borrow. E-mail honorthegame@powayyouthlacrosse if you would like to borrow equipment.
Parent participation to help with the many activities associated with the season is REQUIRED. The coaches and players need your support.
Our Program is dedicated to providing its players with high quality coaching under the ideal of “Better Athletes, Better People” to not only teach the game of lacrosse but help athletes learn life lessons and develop character. We embrace US Lacrosse’s Lacrosse Athlete Development Model to focus on “the right training at the right time” in an athlete's development.
Refunds on registration will not be permitted after the season begins.
